We feasted at Thanksgiving and we are gearing up to feast again at Christmas and New Year’s Day. All of these feasts exist because of this feast. The joy of Advent and Christmas is because God has sent us a Savior to live a perfect sinless life and then die for all those who call upon His name.
We cannot rightly celebrate the birth of Jesus without His death in view. Christ’s death is the occasion of God’s salvation. For us, to remember Christ’s death is not a sad event. Particularly, as we know that death could not hold Him.
We are invited each week to this Table. A morsel of bread, a sip of wine. If you are looking at the elements, hardly a feast. But if you are looking at Christ Jesus and receive Him by faith who is signified in the bread and the wine, it is the best feast.
