Advent is all about being busy. There are trees to decorate, presents to purchase, groceries to shop for, feasts to plan, stockings to stuff. Busy, busy, busy. And this is the way that it should be as we prepare our hearts to receive our Lord.
And if we do all the busy properly, it will be filled with joy and not anxiety. It will be filled with a giving heart and wholly worth the effort. Even in the busyness of the business of Christmas one can and must find rest in Jesus Christ, who truly is the reason for the season.
The Christmas meal is also prepped with busy. But at some point you sit down to eat. You finally convince mom to slow down and stop fretting about making everything perfect for everyone else. You sit down, you say a prayer, you eat and your rest from your toil in great rejoicing.
That’s what we do here at this Table. Our Father in heaven has prepped it all for you. You only need sit down, give thanks, rejoice in His presence, and eat and drink. Rest.
