Joy of Koinonia

Koinonia

1.   the Christian fellowship or body of believers

We have been talking about bread, and celebrating bread in the land of promise, in the house of God, in the presence of the Covenant Community.

We are blessed to celebrate this supper weekly, to bread bread and drink wine, a sacrament of God’s faithfulness to us.

God feeds us here every week and it is such a meal to fill us up with everything we need for life, health, peace and rest.

For this is the true bread, the Lord Jesus Christ and this is the true wine, the blood of Christ that cleanses from all sin. Those who partake of this meal in faith, lay hold of Christ freely offered in the gospel. The Holy Spirit applies this to you, and you are given life in the Son of God.

And not just you. This is not a private meal. This is the food of God for the people of God. We look around and see a bunch of other sinners, saved by grace through faith, and we rejoice not only for ourselves but for our neighbors, our spouses, our children, for God has poured out His abundant blessings on them.

So, we rejoice in this Koinonia,  A good second definition is this an 2: intimate spiritual communion and participative sharing in a common religious commitment and spiritual community.

We do this with great joy in Christ and in His promises to us as His people. Be fed and be filled up with Jesus.
