Peace

What a blessing it is to eat your food in peace. There is perhaps no greater joy than sitting down to a family meal when all the members are happy to be together, full of joy and thankful for all the hard work that went into the meal. We think about that a lot in this feasting month of Thanksgiving.
We have the privilege of living in that sort of peaceful bliss each Lord’s Day. I am not discounting the difficulties of life. Of course, life can be difficult, sometimes particularly trying or painfully discouraging. But that is the glory of the family meal, both at home and here at church.
We sit together, one family, forgiven by Jesus, grateful for the food and the company. That really is peaceful bliss. It is right here. It is for you. It is a free gift. All you have to do to receive this sort of peace is to partake of it with gratitude.
