Believe the Promises

We are not a people who live by sight. We live by faith in the Son of God. But we are humans and prone to grow weary. Sometimes our humanity grows so weary that it stumbles into unbelief.
We know that God has spoken but things are not going as we planned, or on the timeframe we had hoped, or in our favor at this moment. And so we stumble and look for other answers to our eternal problems. Like Elimelech and Naomi, we look at the outside world and think that maybe there is food for us there.
But God, in His grace, calls us back again and again. He says, I have provided the lamb. My grace is sufficient for you. I will never leave you or forsake you. I will keep you in perfect peace. My mercies are new ever morning. I go and prepare a place for you. Who shall separate you from the love of God. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Dear Saints, don’t grow weary. Don’t look elsewhere. Here is the bread and wine of life. Lay hold of Christ crucified. Believe the promises.
