Cast your care upon the Lord and He will sustain you. Psalm 55 today called us to Trust in the Lord to sustain us in trouble. This is a meal of sustenance.
This meal brings to mind the finished work of the cross. In the cross, we overcome the world, the flesh and the devil. Our Psalm pictured David’s temptations to fear. He had enemies. He was in fear of death. Men controlled by the devil opposed him.
His response was to seek God and God’s comfort and salvation. We are not unlike Him. We have fears without, anxieties within. And so, what do we do? We come to the Lord. We seek Christ, crucified. We remember that our sins are forgiven. We seek Christ, resurrected and know that we can do what He has called us to do because He raises the dead. We eat the bread and drink the wine because God desires us to be strong in Spirit and Body. Our sustenance is to trust in Jesus.
