Christians ought to be fearless. We stand in the strength of the Lord. But in the Psalms that we have been preaching through, we see David expressing fears. And we, too, have fears. Sudden fears from being surprised. Fears when shocking news reaches us. Fears when health scares come upon us. Fears when God’s enemies attack His people. Fears when our own sins rise up and accuse us.
But David reminds himself and us, that God is for us. If God is for us, who can be against us? If God is for us, what weapon formed against us will stand? If God be for us, who shall lay a charge against God’s elect? If God, is for us, what can man do to us?
If God is for us, we can sit in His presence in peace. If God is for us, we can sleep the sleep of the righteous. If God is for us, we can put our trust in Him, and we shall not be afraid.
This meal testifies that God is for you. Cast all your cares on Him, for He cares for you. You shall not stumble or fall. He will sustain you. Do not be afraid.
