All Things New
Birth of a Star
2020 was a wild ride, for sure. It started out on a long trip to Tokyo and Manila. My wife, Katie, and I visited our CREC Church in Mitaka and then flew to the Philippines for a whirlwind tour of 18 different churches associated with PREACH, Philippine Reformed Evangelical Association of Churches.
We visited many churches and were amazed at how God is moving in His Church and that the Reformed faith there is alive and thriving.
We arrived home to our 20th Anniversary Celebration. It was a huge success, including a wonderful dinner, lots of memorable momentos, great friends and remembrances. It sort of felt like being an old person and looking back on a life well lived.
Covid hit the week of our celebration. March Madness ended and March Madness began, but only 15 days to flatten the curve! And March Madness grew into April, May, June, July and on and on.
The election was crazy. Joe can’t say a full sentence. That’s crazy. January 6 was wild.
2021 is starting out gangbusters. A year ago I was looking back on 20 years and felt like I was ready for a comfortable place to watch the next life and the next generation unfold before me.
I tried to cash in early once and that didn’t work, either. Ask me about the time I died.
But now we have purchased a new church building. Because of the Covid madness and our sanity, our church is booming. The feel I have now is that my ministry is just beginning. Don’t know if I will make it another 20 years but the next 5 or 10 are likely to be a romp.
