Sound in the Faith
We always start our service with the Confession of Sin. We confess corporate sins which may include sins of the broader church, sins of our nation and culture, as well as our own individual sins.
The purpose of starting our church service this way is not so that we get in the proper presbyterian dour mood for worship. In fact, the exact opposite is true. We confess early so that we set right any ill will between us and God at the outset of our worship.
We humble ourselves before the Lord and seek His mercy and grace. Through this process, the Holy Spirit assures us that we are forgiven and therefore welcome in the sight of our Holy God and so that we can enter into the joy of our Lord. This is how we come to Him sound in the faith.
