Right Allegiances
It is imperative that we have our allegiances right. This is not always easy to do. Children often make friends with those who lead them down a wrong path. Teenagers sometimes seek the pleasure of the world in the midst of friends who have not counted the future cost. Men sometimes align with the faction that undermines the boss or the business to the hurt of all involved, including themselves. Women sometimes align themselves with other women to the hurt of their own marriages and families.
It is time to measure the friendships and the loyalties that you have developed. Are your friendships in accord with Jesus Christ? Do your friendships pull you closer to Jesus or farther away? If you are purposefully friends with those who openly disobey God, are you doing so in a way that is drawing them closer to Jesus, or drawing you farther away from Him? The direction makes all the difference.
Have good allegiances. Be a leader in your relationships and only follow those who are following Christ. Turn away from those men, women and children who will lead you down a path to destruction. It is true that bad company corrupts good morals. But it is also true that good character is contagious.
